a rig is a route the solver is allowed to take. orchard direct and monero direct go sol to zec or xmr in one intent. the two hop rigs go sol to near to zec or xmr, which sometimes has the better quote and always earns grade 3 for the extra settlement. split handles fragmented intents and may use any route per fragment.
a rig's hashrate is shares accepted per sol of fee it spent. a rig whose hashrate falls under a quarter of the median of the five over the last 64 shares is throttled: it is offered one intent in four until it climbs back. nothing is ever turned off and nobody chooses.
the rigs are not separate machines. they are five policies inside one solver, and the figure on the home page shows them as two fans because every policy ends on one of the two chains.
